Spring is in the air! It’s fun to see the sun return to the sky, the snow begin to melt and the students return to normal campus activity after a long and treacherous winter. The Polar Vortex threw Michigan for a loop, but we Michiganders once again proved that we’re resilient people.
As we head toward wrapping up another wonderful year at Cornerstone University, I wanted to make mention of several key dates, activities and initiatives as we look toward the future.
Celebration of Scholarship
Please join us on April 25, 2019, for our second annual Celebration of Scholarship. This day recognizes the scholarly endeavors of our undergraduate students by inviting parents, faculty, staff and members of the community to attend presentations of academic papers, research posters and creative works. Students will present their work throughout the day at various locations on campus and have an opportunity to interact with those in attendance.
Commencement Weekend
On May 10 and 11, join our faculty, staff, family and friends as we celebrate and welcome our newest alumni into the Alumni Association during this year’s commencement ceremonies. In addition to graduating the largest class in the history of the institution, we’ll also honor our annual alumni award winners that weekend. No tickets are required for this event.
Homecoming and Family Weekend
Mark your calendar for Oct. 18 and 19 as we celebrate Homecoming and Family Weekend. Last year, we had nearly 500 alumni and students participate in various activities across campus. Highlights of the weekend included an alumni-led chapel service, open mic night, multiple educational division receptions and a wonderful concert in Christ Chapel. We also experienced ArtPrize, took in a fantastic theatre performance of “Beneath the Willows” and had another opportunity to jump in the bog with Professor Gates. Stay tuned for an updated schedule of events as we enter into summer.
Regional Alumni Chapters
Finally, we’re in the process of formalizing regional alumni chapters around the country. If you have an interest in being a part of a regional alumni chapter, would like to start one in your area or would like further information, email the Alumni Association.
