Library Mission and Policies

Miller Library Mission:

The Miller Library staff strives to support the mission of Cornerstone University by assisting members of the university community to acquire knowledge by offering access to, instruction in, and interaction with information resources.

Library Policies:

  • Circulation Policies
    • The circulation department facilitates physical access to Miller Library's collection by providing a variety of services to library patrons, including checking out, renewing, and returning circulating items, placing hold and recall requests for material in circulation, and locating items in the stacks. Patrons also may receive assistance using the copy machines, microform machines or reserving a group study room. In addition, faculty can place course-related required and supplementary readings on Reserve that may be accessed by eligible borrowers.
  • Collection Development Policy
    • The Collection Development Policy is designed to provide a general set of guidelines to be used by staff in the selection and maintenance of materials for the Miller Library collection.
  • Computer Use Policy
  • Copyright & Reserves Policies
    • This policy includes important information and guidelines for CU faculty as it pertains to Reserves at Miller Library. Also see the CU Copyright Policy.
  • Display Policies
    • The primary goal of the displays and exhibits is to support the mission of Miller Library and the mission of Cornerstone University. Therefore the actual exhibits/displays should be appropriate to an academic setting, support the curriculum and/or instructional missions of Cornerstone University and/or reflect Miller Library collections and services.
  • Distance Education Policies
    • In accordance with the 2000 ACRL Guidelines for Distance Learning Library Services and the library's own mission statement, the Miller Library of Cornerstone University is committed to helping the distance education community acquire knowledge by offering access to, instruction in, and interaction with information resources. Services offered may be different from, but equivalent to the services offered to the on-campus community.
  • Interlibrary Loan Policy
    • The Interlibrary Loan department exists to supplement the Miller Library collection by providing materials patrons need from other libraries in a timely manner and to reciprocate by lending material to other libraries.
