Brad Porter
Hometown: Cary, Ill.
Major: Media Studies - Film emphasis

As a high school student I fell in love with movies. I found out about Cornerstone University through instructors at Compass Film Academy, an institute that partners with Cornerstone's Communication & Media Studies Division. That's when I realized my dreams of becoming a filmmaker could come true.

At Cornerstone I'm not just a number or just another student sitting in classes. My professors meet with me, mentor me and have even shown up on my film shoots to help me out. They really care.

Professors are interested in my personal and spiritual growth. If I have a question I can e-mail my professors and get a response - or I can stop by and see them anytime. Their investment in my life has made me a better film maker and has deepened my faith in Christ.

Brad's experiences at Cornerstone include:

  • working on the set of three feature films, two in California and one in Georgia
  • having one of the films viewed at the Sundance Film Festival
  • taking hands-on classes at Compass Film Academy, a film institute in downtown Grand Rapids
  • getting paid to work on corporate videos and small commercials
  • serving as a Resident Assistant
  • dancing with the swing dance club
